Community 101 provides students with opportunities to develop leadership skills and community awareness through civic engagement and professional development. Along with fundraising, completing campus beautification projects, and logging many hours of community volunteer service, students work collaboratively to complete an annual grant project. This project consist of students, as a class, developing a mission statement that is used to determine to who they will award a $5,000 grant given to them by the Crane Creek of the Oregon Community Foundation.  Students also coordinate and execute an annual grant award ceremony & volunteer recognition breakfast.

We’re always interested in hearing from our community about opportunities that will help our students develop their life assets, whether it be volunteering, job opportunities, or learning from those in the community.

If you’d like to volunteer with Phoenix or you have a project that you’re looking for volunteers or employees for please email Crissy Lindsey, Executive Assistant, at for more information.

“I like the non-traditional high school environment at Phoenix. I feel like the teachers actually want to and do help me, unlike other schools I’ve attended. It is just a much better learning space for me.”
